Being someone who is a graphic designer by trade, one would assume that I would have embraced technology long ago, had the snazziest website and the most up-to-date blog with all of the bells and whistles. For those of you who already know me, you know this is not my style...
Having built a successful business (Country Lane Pet Resort) almost entirely on word-of-mouth advertising was an experience that has changed the manner in which I look at promotion. There is not much sense in promoting something to simply get people in the door if they will not be willing to stay, so it is best to focus on the quality of the service itself so that those who use the service find value in it and, in turn, tell others. So, for those who were looking for a sales pitch for the training aspect of our business, sorry, none here. However, I will be offering a ton of opinions based on personal experiences, both of which have an impact on one another, so opinions may change with each new experience. This is a perfect lead-in to the first opinion that I wish to share with you :).
Having an opinion should be based on experience. Being loyal to an opinion is an invitation for ignorance and has a great potential to block learning. The less that people cling to an opinion the more open they are to change and potentially improving their own quality of life (and their dogs, LOL)... just an opinion.
This blog will contain a very broad range of topics (mostly dog-related and the humans that maintain them), guest appearances and thoughts rolled into loosely written gobbley-goop as only I can write. I apologize in advance as it may be hard to follow at times. I may provide video clips as a means of communicating thoughts and procedures to some of my students, friends, and fellow trainers. If anyone has some recommendations, has worked with me and wants to add something to the blog, or wants to promote a cause (I am very particular about this last one) contact me and we can discuss it.
In closing, I hope that this blog is helpful to all that read it and/or it puts a smile on somebody's face. If anyone is offended by any of the content in this blog I invite you to discuss it with me.
So, where do I go from here?????

Very nice, I look forward to your opinions ;o). Who is the dog in the title, anyone I know?
Sue G
The dog at the top is "Stark" now serving with Buffalo PD as dual purpose patrol/detection K9, certified this winter at Niagara Regional Police K9 training center. I currently have a brother from a repeat breeding, "Griffin".
Here's an opinion for you....."the only thing that three dog trainers can agree on is what the other two are doing wrong. Great idea Mike, all the best.
Oh, Sue, the dog in the title is Silva... you have met him.
